Yes, I ordered the
D-Link Xtreme N Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router a few weeks ago and yesterday, it finally arrived. I am using it now and the best way I can describe it is "fast!" My download is 2508 kb/s and my upload is 991 kb/s. That is doubling what I used to own. I have my printer all hooked up along with my Xbox 360 and all the other computers in the house and all of them have at least 4 bars of signal strength. That is not a big difference but it is still a good thing. When setting this sucker up, I noticed that it was not a simple as I was hoping for. I still had it done with a relative amount of ease but there was plenty of preparation work that needed to be done before anything else. This router is meant for the hard core internet users out there. People who like to stream through Ustream, watch HD videos online, online gaming and download large files. All of that works like a charm. I have enabled security on it so none of you hackers out there will be able to get into my super fast network. Having this router and using it with Comcast Business Class internet, (I recommend) seems like the perfect couple. Now, my modem might have a little dust but it does not seem to be holding me back as far as speed goes. Linksys is a good brand but I would not use them for professional purposes. D-Link really has a good product here.
I think that my favorite feature about this router is the fact that I can connect USB devices to the network through SharePoint Technology. For example, if I take a USB flash drive and plug it in to my PC, I can connect it to the network. To me, that is really cool. This router works with all operating systems besides Linux. At least I did not see that in the list of "What you Need." It will also work with all browsers. Just make sure you have them updates before you use this router.
Well, over all I would certainly recommend this to a friend any day. Two thumbs up D-Link! Do you have any hardware recommendations for me? Send them along to Stephen@techy.tk.
