Today I came across some documentation about Google Chrome add-ons. My eyes instantly became wide open. Apparently, there are a few add-ons planning to be released for Chrome soon. If you look at the documentation, you will see a list of add-ons for Firefox that they would like to have in Chrome. Things like ForecastFox, FoxyTunes, Web Of Trust, GooglePreview and BugMeNot.

I cant say that this is going to be amazing but it is certainly going to be a big step for the Chrome browser. Hopefully Chrome will maintain it stability when add-ons are installed. They say that the installation is supposed to be simple but I don’t know how simple it can get. They might integrate a add-ons manager like Firefox. They also claim for the add-ons to have automatic updates. Just like Firefox.

Everyone knows why Google is doing this. So they can convince Firefox users to switch. I am a Firefox user my self so maybe this will convince me to switch. I guess we will have to wait and see. If you read this documentation, they state there goals. I am surprised that they did not put something like “Kill Firefox!” in there. As for how much longer, I am not sure yet. I do know that there are no API’s that have been released to the public yet. Do you know when they will be out? E-mail me at Stephen@techy.tk and let me know.
