Rivahgeek!

I have many webcams. I was going to give one of them away but that was a big fail. One thing that upsets me, is that 60% of the videos out there are just plain bad. People have no clue what they are saying and it is filled with "um" and static noise. I record screencast because all of my videos are about software. So, that is the best way to show off software. If you record from a camera than you might want to look at these tips before you get started.
  1. Make sure you have plenty of light. It is really annoying if you are talking and no one can see you. That is just bad quality.
  2. If you are going to do a screencast, get a microphone. It is really annoying when someone is recording a screencast and typing in notepad with loud heavy medal music playing in the background. I don't even watch those videos.
  3. Talk clearly. Try to talk as clear as possible. You do not need to talk like a robot just make sure people can understand what you are saying with a degree of ease.
  4. Get the facts first. If you are talking about something that happened at Apple or some form of news, make sure that you know what you are talking about. Nobody wants to hear false news.
  5. Get a decent webcam. Do not get the WalMart special. Spend the extra cash to get something high quality. It is a good idea to have auto focus.
  6. Have a good grip on what you are talking about in your videos. If you are demonstrating software, stick to demonstrating software. Same thing with tutorials and every other video category out there.
It is very important to have a good quality video. It gets you more traffic when it is good, clean content. Have tips of your own? Be sure to pass them along to me. My E-mail address is Stephen@techy.tk.
